Last week virus rules for the Christmas period were relaxed, allowing 3 families to get together for a five day period. Today the rules have changed yet again with the mutation of the virus causing many more infections, mainly in London and the south east. Only now allowed i family member and only for one day.
Lets just hope the vaccine being implementsed will be effective for this new virus strain
This Xmas is going to be a lot different, no family mixing, so I was just asked what I wanted for Chrisrmas dinner, had no problem making a choice, a Madras curry was mine. A very good suggestion followed, why not get a few take aways from the Hel Al, brilliant idea, the others can then be freezed for New Years day. Not only saving on the washing up, but as I hate brussels, am happy with that idea.
It was not raining today, so decided to have a walk, stretch the legs. Stopped in at the shops on the way and bought some milk, can't contain myself, exciting it was not, but at least the legs got a bit of much needed exercise.
This day a year back I attended the Twilight Lightning Preservation Groups photo shoot event. It also was a special occasion to remember one of my pals who had recently died, Peter O'Callaghan also an LPG member. Little did we know then, that this would be the last fast taxi event that the two jets would perform.
The airfield was leased to Cox Automotive who store cars for sale at auctions. Today there is a fence surrounding the Lightning Hangar which prohibits movement of the jets. A Museum is being planned and work under way to clear the trees adjacent to the Hangar on which hardcore will be eventually laid.
A large parcel arrived on my doorstep today, a box full of Lightning Aircraft plastic models 1/72 scale. A chap got my contact details off the Lightning Association website (I am their webmaster) he had a load of Lightning models that he said he would never get around to making, and would I like them. They will go to The Lightning Preservation Group shop at Bruntingthorpe where the proceeds will help with funds to keep our two jets running.
Our East Lindsey Council have issued a new directive for our area, as covid cases are increasing. We were already in a government lockdown, but this is now an even more worrying trend. Looks like even going out for a walk or bike ride is off the table for the time being.
