Dominoes continued....

Have got the dominoes, now need a board to play the game on. Having just dismantled a cheap gateleg table, I now have 2 leaves, with rounded corners. The appearance of the wood looked like plywood with veneer, but when cut to size was actually chipboard.

I intend joining the two halves with dowels and probably finishing it off with a sheet of hardboard which will get varnished, followed by framing the board with a slightly raised lip to stop the dominoes falling off when shuffled. The other side may just get painted.

Have taken delivery of two sash clamps and now just waiting on the dowel tool and dowels.

Since lockdown our dominoes team over the last three or four weeks have been playing the game at our homes as social distancing rules have been relaxed a bit. Patios, porches and other ways of conducting safely a game or two.

Different sets and types of dominoes have been used with limited success in the shuffling mode and on different surfaces, so a quick look on eBay and found a seller offering two sets of pub grade dominoes at a really good price. Our next game should go a lot better with these.

My Lightning passion

After finding my stash of Lightning Tankards and Mugs the other week, there was one mug which was missing, presumed broken. Have just taken delivery of a new mug to complete my collection and all shown in the pic below.

Loft tidy continued

Whilst up the loft the other day, also brought down an old Desktop computer, fired it up and found it still had Linux Mint on it. Thought I would see what an SSD could do and find out if the boot speed etc., would improve.Got myself the SSD shown below only 240 gig but with Windows 10 Pro pre-installed, add a caddy mount and cables. Fired up first time and speedy too, am glad I got it now. Bonus no noise.

Loft tidy up

Yesterday I decided to have a look at what was in some of the boxes stored in the loft. Opened one and the wrapping paper was vintage and brown, so unwrapped an item and it was a pewter mug from my RAF stations plus a load of stein type beer mugs from Germany, these have not seen the light of day since I moved here in 1993, so was pleased to have found the treasure.

Have washed all the mugs and tankards, but although no where to display them, have at least got them ready for show at some point.

Last night our dominoes team were invited to Don MacKenzie's house for a game of doms, the last time we played was back in March just before the virus lockdown started. It was great to meet the lads after all this time and we managed quite a few games, drank a few beers (provided) and even had a large plate of chips to tuck into, from Don's wife Eileen.

Todays excitement
