Wi-Fi Switches

Alexa voice commands can be used to switch on Wi-Fi enabled household items such as lamps etc., my son has a few fitted to work with his Amazon Echo, so have ordered 3 wi-fi plugs to use on my table lamps in the living room.

Mobile Phone

Getting a bit hacked off with the cost of a BT line rental at £21 a month, checked the last bill and the only call was 99p which was out of the plan hours. Now comes the business of notifying those that use our landline number that soon they will need to use our mobile numbers as we plan to ditch the landline.

With more mobile usage envisaged, it is also time to update my mobile sim plan. Have just ordered from Talkmobile a new sim with unlimited UK calls, unlimited UK texts and 12gig of data, all on a rolling 30 day contract, cost £12 per month.

Your Order Summary

Data Promo Talker D

  • Unlimited UK Minutes
  • Unlimited UK Texts
  • 12GB Data Allowance
30 day rolling monthly contract

Virgin broadband

Was having trouble with my broadband, router tripped and had to use the reset to get it back online, after speaking to an Indian lady on Virgin support. An engineer came yesterday, checked out the system, new router/Hub3 and updated power supply for it. Checked a few connections all OK.

All very well, but all the wireless equipment had to be set up again, even Alexa notified me that it required wireless set up all over again. Most things Ok now except my printer would not connect wirelessly (after an hour of wasted time) connected the printer via a USB lead, at least it works now.

Storm Ciara

The latest storm arrived 2 days ago, The wind force was as predicted and although not much rain, there was a lot of damage to trees and some flooding. Had a quick check round our back garden and our next door neighbours 6 x 6 panels (2) had snapped a post and the panels were laying in our garden.

The neighbours son was up promptly and spent the day trying to remove the rotten post stump. Today he has managed to install 2 new fence panels and posts. The wind has abated a bit, but still strong, even had a snow shower or two before the sun returned.

LPG Comic

Back in November 2018 I invested in a Comic app and produced a 5 page comic for the LPG. Had forgotten about it till last week when I thought to produce another issue, Will let the LPG lads have a read to see what they think.

Cold War Jets

Cold War Jets fast taxi open days at Bruntingthorpe Airfield was the highlight of aviation enthusiasts and one I rarely missed. 2020 events look uncertain, this being down to the volume of vehicles stored on the site. It has not been officially cancelled as yet, so fingers crossed it goes ahead.

Paint job

Looking at the kitchen door and frame, it certainly was not very white, so have repainted the door and frame with quick drying paint. Looks a lot better.

Monday, 3 February 2020

Whilst popping a few pills this morning, I suddenly realised that I only had 1 Blood pressure tab left. Checked my phone to see if I had missed a text message from Boots, nothing there. Got the bus down town in the afternoon and luckily enough my prescription was there waiting. Sign of the times when you rely on a phone text.

Update June 2020, my fault no Text message from the pharmacy, got  a new phone sim and forgot to let the chemist know. all sorted now hopefully.

Todays excitement
